What is MRI?
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) allows our team of radiologists to see into any part of the body painlessly, non-invasively, rapidly and without exposure to radiation. MRI provides greater contrast between the different tissues and organs of the body than Computed Tomography (CT) making it highly useful in the detection of disease in the neurological, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular disorders as well as oncologic imaging.
Unlike CT scanning, MRI does not use ionizing radiation, but rather utilizes magnetic fields to build up enough information to construct an image of the body. Certain studies may require a small amount of a contrast agent to be injected into an arm vein of the patient to be able to highlight special areas and visualize abnormalities.
The types of MRI available at Nozha Scan:
- Brain Studies
- Brain MRI
- Brain without contrast
- Fosterior fossa, brain stem
- Temporal bone
- Function MRI (fMRI)
- MR Spectroscopy
- Vascular Studies:
- Magnetic resonance angiography – Neurovascular and Vascular
- Spine Studies:
What is CT?
Computed tomography scanning is a noninvasive imaging technique that uses powerful computers to create three-dimensional and cross-sectional pictures of the body. CT scans are rapid, which means the patient will be on and off the scanner in a matter of minutes. CT scans provide accurate and precise anatomical details, such as the size and location of tumors, masses, infections, and injuries.
CT scanners utilize X-rays and detectors to produce accurate images of your body’s internal structures.
The procedure is painless, but certain studies may require that the technologist injects a small amount of contrast agent into the patient’s arm (IV contrast) to highlight special areas and visualize abnormalities. They may also be asked to drink barium contrast (oral contrast) to enhance their intestinal tract.
The types of CT available at Nozha Scan:
- Brain CT:
CT scans of the brain can give more detailed information about brain tissue and brain structures than standard X-rays of the head. In cases of emergency, brain CT scans can quickly detect internal bleeding and injury.
- Angiography CT:
In this scan, we examine the blood vessels in key areas of the body, including the patient’s brain, and neck. Iv contrast may be used to enhance the images to show narrowing or blockages in the blood vessels calcification causes.
What is an Ultrasound?
Ultrasounds mainly provide a view of soft tissue organs. It is generally an exam that includes the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, bile ducts, spleen and a limited view of the kidneys. Ultrasounds are helpful in analyzing the anatomy of the human without the use of radiation. Instead, ultrasound relies on harmless sound waves which makes it totally safe for mainly everyone.
The types of Ultrasound available at Nozha Scan:
- General ultrasound
- Abdomen Ultrasound
- Vascular ultrasound
What are X-rays?
We offer a variety of X-ray imaging to evaluate the anatomy of the body using electromagnetic radiation. X-rays can help to evaluate fractures or breaks in the bones and they’re usually the first diagnostic tool doctors turn to when they want to get a quick look at what’s happening inside the patient’s body.
The electromagnetic waves create a picture of your body using black-and-white shading as different parts of the body absorb the radiation at different levels. Bones are very dense, and they appear the whitest on X-rays, while soft tissue may show up in lighter shades. Any spaces where there’s just air, like your lungs, appear black on an X-ray.
The types of X-rays available at Nozha Scan:
- Chest & Lung
- Spine (Cervical, thoracic, lumbar)
- Upper GI/barium test
- Spinal myelography (cervical and lumbar)
- DEXA to measure the bone mineral density
